Work for All is a specialised course which covers both unemployment as well as the world of work. It also deals with setting goals and the use of time, all from a biblical perspective.
1. The course is based on the New International Version of the Bible; all members of the group should use this, for best results.
2. Every member of the group should also have a copy of the study book.
3. The Group Leader should prepare the studies prayerfully, in advance. In mature groups, it is possible to rotate the leadership.
4. Unless the group opts for the accelerated programme described below, all of the 22 studies should be done in the group, one each week.
5. In the alternative accelerated programme, only studies 'C' are done in the group; the corresponding 'A' and 'B' studies are always done the previous week by each student alone, at home, in preparation for the group meeting. This accelerated programme then takes only eight, instead of 22 weeks.
'I have found that the study Work for All covers the whole topic of work most thoroughly and systematically, from a Biblical point of view. I was particularly delighted that the basic principles guiding the meaning and place of work were explored in such depth.
'The study operates with a wide vision of the reality of work, as an activity which touches the whole of life. Not here any narrow or restricted view. In God's world it is not possible to be 'out-of-work'. This helps to put 'paid employment' into its proper perspective. I believe that the practical application of the relevant biblical teaching has been thought about and presented very carefully and with great clarity.
'Anyone who follows the directions of the course faithfully will not only learn aspects of God's truth they may not have thought about before, they will also be stimulated to make changes in their attitudes and patterns of work which will make them much freer in God's service. The study could be a life-changing experience!'
The Rev J. Andrew Kirk, Associate Director of LICC (The London Institute for Contemporary Christianity)
