One SEAN user recently joined a small city-outskirts church and is now involved in preparing Bible study material for its house groups. He had been asked to prepare studies for two chapters in Genesis (18 and 22). Co-incidentally, (or God-incidentally!) he had been studying Pentateuch (book 1) with his local SEAN group and felt strongly that this opportunity to introduce TEE as a potential discipleship and learning tool to this Bible-believing fellowship was too good to pass by.
Not
surprisingly, therefore, the attached studies (Genesis
18 and Genesis 22) owe some of their content
to SEAN's excellent TEE course, Pentateuch
- Genesis: Abraham, his family and the Messiah. Because the studies
have been designed for groups not previously familiar with TEE, some fairly
full instructions and comments have been included - hence their suitability
as 'taster' studies at a less intensive level than Do
You See This Woman? (which is pitched more at the post-nurture level).
Both studies were fully field-tested by a local SEAN group and refined before being used 'live'. They were very warmly received, and comments included: 'good for really getting to grips with God's word' and 'Are we having more like that? If so, I would like to lead one'. Praise the Lord indeed!
It will be especially useful to use them in order, ie Genesis 18 first, as the various instructions in Genesis 22 study largely assume that Genesis 18 has already been used.
If you'd like to use these studies, please download the PDF files (click now on Genesis 18 and/or Genesis 22). When printing out each file, please note that the pages are 'landscape' (sideways on) and that they should be 'backed up', ie page 2 backs page 1, page 4 backs page 3, before being folded into three (a U-fold). It's especially important, when presenting taster material, that it has a must-hold, must-do feel about it - the reason that these studies are in this particular form.
We want www.sean.uk.net (that's here!) to act as a resource for many more taster materials and/or one-off Bible studies. So why not send in some? Perhaps you have a study or course that you would like field-tested? Or just an idea for one? Here's your opportunity to share in the community of TEE users who will value such a resource. Ideas? Comments?
NOTE... SEAN cannot garantee to place every submitted study it receives in this way. However, all studies which are doctrinally sound and reflect thorough preparation will be carefully and prayerfully considered. If you have specific authoring skills, please make yourself known to SEAN.
