Making a difference in Uganda
SEAN UK partnering with SEAN Uganda TEE

Our Programme

Our Commission and Vision

We were commissioned to bring the SEAN (Study by Extension for All Nations) education material to the people of Uganda on a “grass root level” making a holistic and theological training programme accessible to all.  This has extended in partnership with the Church of Uganda to schools, colleges and educational establishments, prisons, and local communities.  In 2008 we became an official registered organisation in Uganda called SEAN Uganda TEE with an office and administrator/field worker, Daniel Muwanguzi.

Extending our mission

The SEAN material provides study courses to train, equip and mobilise leaders to then train others. SEAN is one of the first sustainable theological training programmes to be brought to the Ssese Islands. With over 69 islands in Lake Victoria and a population of 4 million, our mission and challange is to bring resources and support to the local Churches

Reaching rural communities

Rural communities and regions of Uganda have a wide variatety of dialects which all need to be reached using their own local language.

Translation and contextualisation began in 2008 and to date we have three translations completed of the first two foundation courses. Daniel with Luganda, Alur and Runtakitara translations

The need

Bishop Alphonse from Nebbi said:

"There is an opportunity for the Church to recover it's faith through discleship using the tool of SEAN. If we do not take disclipleship seriously what is the future of the Church? The Church in Uganda is growing numerically but not in depth of understanding. I believe God wants to rescue the Church worldwide - beginning in Africa"

Our Project

Indigenous and self sustaining

The programme has expanded and grown and although owned by Uganda, needed a way to become self sustaining to ensure it remains long into the future. We set out plans and proposals to create a sustainable income by setting up a business. The vision was to buy a piece of land that would enable us to build rentable apartments thus bringing income into the Programme. Daniel, the programme manager enlisted the help of his father, who has had years of experience in land and development, assisted sourcing a piece of land located just 10 minutes walk from an International Christian University.

Through generous donations and fundraising events, in June 2013 we were able to purchase some land next to a local village called Ndejje.

The community of Ndejje have many needs, with no access to nearby medical facilities or community resourcing, the Project will be able to provide them with a medical centre, mother and baby facility, employment and educational support.

The vision for the land now includes a finacial business project and outreach to the Ndejee Village.
