No matter how good the material, and no matter how keen the students, it is probably stating the obvious to say that a well trained tutor can add a great deal towards the success of any course.
Here, in SEAN UK, we are investing much time and effort into encouraging the training of tutors, as well as the interchange of ideas and experiences, through holding workshops in various parts of the UK.
On this page and its links you will not find any clinical standalone manual as all you need to become a trained tutor. Rather, you will encouraged to actively participate by meeting with other SEAN tutors through the workshops, although supporting material will added in due course.

Dedicated support for Life to the Full tutorsSEAN UK is conscious of the fact that the new Life to the Full (formerly Abundant Life) course is often likely to be the users' first experience of this type of material and we therefore make a routine 6-week and 6-month follow-up (via a phone call wherever possible) in order to offer practical advice, encouragement and support. If you are a SEAN tutor and are willing to be a support contact in your area, whether for using Life to the Full in particular or for using SEAN materials in general, we would love to hear from you. This network of partners in furthering local church programmes is growing rapidly and we at SEAN UK feel privileged to work with grass-root Christians who share our vision for equipping God's church with well-discipled workers. The new workshops initiative started in 2002 with the 'Training – A Vision for Life' workshops. The first was at Axminster in April 2002, and the second at Wigan in November 2002, and the third at Nottingham in May (2003). More have since followed – in Wales, and in the north west and south east of England, providing ever more opportunities to give hands-on experience to churches setting up their own discipleship programmes.
Although the 'Training – A Vision for Life' workshops are mainly user-oriented, each includes a fairly major focus on the leading of courses. However, at both Axminster and Nottingham, it became quickly obvious that separate tutor-oriented workshops were also needed. SEAN UK responded quickly to this need and held the first tutor-training oriented workshop at Axminster in March (2003), followed by another in 2004. SEAN UK also has plans for weekend residential courses – watch this space...
An especially rich resource for new small group leaders...An excellent opportunity to train leaders of small groups exists as part of the Life of Christ series. The Tutor Manual for Book 1 is much larger than those for Books 2 to 6. Why? Because this manual is, in itself, a training course for new tutors. Ideally, it should be used by an experienced group leader as training aid for an assistant leader; but equally it can be used by those with no previous experience (as, more often than not, is the case). In this manual you will find additional leader-only studies which directly complement and build on the leader's on-the-job experience of leading the group. |

Calling all SEAN tutors...The new team at SEAN UK has recognised the urgent need to build up a network of SEAN users in the UK, and is looking for existing SEAN users around the UK who are willing to demonstrate to potential users in their area how they use the material – see the article in a recent Forum about this. Moreover, we recognise that existing tutors have much to offer by ways of experience and the interchange of ideas. Please, if you are a SEAN tutor, we would value your input into our programme of workshops and residential courses. Like you, we are convinced that courses such as Life to the Full, Abundant Light (shortly to be revamped as Pure Gold), and the Life of Christ Compendium are of vital importance in moving thousands of post-Alpha Christians forwards in their spiritual growth – and we are desperate to be able to offer would-be users the opportunity to visit nearby SEAN groups in their own areas. We are receiving an increasing number of phone calls and emails asking for help, advice and information about TEE courses – especially from church leaders – so praise God for this ground swell interest in discipleship in our churches!
